    Who believes in conspiracy theories?

"These people tend to be more suspicious, untrusting, eccentric, needing to feel special, with a tendency to regard the world as an inherently dangerous place," Hart said. "They are also more likely to detect meaningful patterns where they might not exist. People who are reluctant to believe in conspiracy theories tend to have the opposite qualities."
Who believes in conspiracies? New research offers a theory: People with certain personality traits and cognitive styles are more likely to believe in conspiracy theories
Why conspiracy theories are deeply dangerous
Conspiracy Theories and the People Who Believe Them - Oxford Scholarship

In short, the articles above are in agreement that crazy people believe in conspiracy theories. The less educated tend to be more likely yo believe in conspiracy theories.

Our President and his followers are believers in conspiracy theories. They even create them.

Our country is being run by a conspiracy theorist. Our tax money is being spent on trying to prove false conspiracy theories.

    God help us all.

There were a few people here who believed in the Russia conspiracy theory. Some still do.

Their purpose is to make flat earthers look good.

I believe that people do conspire. Thus, there are plenty of conspiracies out there. However, the well planned and thought out conspiracies usually don't become public knowledge.

    2a. Freudian projection
The following is a collection of definitions of projection from orthodox psychology texts. In this system the distinct mechanism of projecting own unconscious or undesirable characteristics onto another is called Freudian Projection.

    • “A defense mechanism in which the individual attributes to other people impulses and traits that he himself has but cannot accept. It is especially likely to occur when the person lacks insight into his own impulses and traits.”
    • “The externalisation of internal unconscious wishes, desires or emotions on to other people. So, for example, someone who feels subconsciously that they have a powerful latent homosexual drive may not acknowledge this consciously, but it may show in their readiness to suspect others of being homosexual.”
    • “Attributing one’s own undesirable traits to other people or agencies, e.g., an aggressive man accuses other people of being hostile.”
    • “The individual perceives in others the motive he denies having himself. Thus the cheat is sure that everyone else is dishonest. The would-be adulterer accuses his wife of infidelity.”
    • “People attribute their own undesirable traits onto others. An individual who unconsciously recognises his or her aggressive tendencies may then see other people acting in an excessively aggressive way.”
    • “Projection is the opposite defence mechanism to identification. We project our own unpleasant feelings onto someone else and blame them for having thoughts that we really have.”

Freudian Projection: Of what they accuse, they are themselves guilty.

Freudian projection involves an individual describing another's characteristics based on that individual's feeling's. Those feelings are as described above.

In my case I investigated what psycologist determine the characteristics of those who believe in conspiracy theories. The characteristics were not what I thought but what professional psychologist have studied and determined the characteristics.

Blows your theory. Did the characteristics of those who believe in conspiracy theory hit home.

Look at yourself, dude. It is not too late to change.

Oddfart, I think you are on to something with Freudian Projection. It sounds like Donald Trump.

A defense mechanism in which the individual attributes to other people impulses and traits that he himself has but cannot accept. It is especially likely to occur when the person lacks insight into his own impulses and traits.”
Trump calls everyone a liar because he is a liar.
Trump looks for corruption everywhere because he is so corrupt
He claims other people's actions are not in the interests of the USA because his actions are not in the best interests of the USA.
He calls illegals rapists aand criminals because he grabs women by the pussy and is a criminal.
