??????????????????????????????????

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

If it wasn't within my lifetime, I officially declare that I dont give a fuck about the debt.

Am I supposed to rationally believe that I'm somehow handing my child this debt, when in my entire lifetime it won't have been collected on for all intents and purposes?

Shouldn't that title read...

When's the last time a POTUS actually lowered the Debt?
or
Who's the last POTUS that actually lowered the Debt?

No, it wasn't 'both the congress (sic) and the president (sic) who did it' it was the people of the United States who balanced the budget by way of the taxes they paid. Back in those days people paid for the services they demanded of their Government, now days, not so much.

Its a revenue problem - its always a revenue problem. This nation does not spend too much, it spends too little. Every pothole is evidence of the problem, if we'd tax as much as we spent we would have no deficit at all. Every tax exemption in the law is a nail in our national economic coffin.

Maybe you don't, but your children and grandchildren will. They'll be paying off your debts for their entire lives. I'm sure they'll thank you for not giving a fuck.

See post numeral three.

Also - it's a collective debt. Meaning - it is my kids' and grandkids' debt to pay, also.

For example. Say we went to war, for survival.

We won, we had a debt because of winning.

The kid's mere existence is thanks to the Men and Women who fought the war.

It's not fair that they pay taxes toward said debt?

Yes, it is. (And war is not the only example we can come up with................how about Medical research that was subsidized that may someday save their lives? Things aren't as black and white as the soundbite "leaving your kids and grandkids with debt.")

Most of us weren't even born yet - yet act like "lowering the debt" is some benchmark we judge our POTUSES by.

If you're not in your 60's or older, it falls on deaf ears.

Debt really isn't much of an issue until a Democrat is POTUS.

Then all of a sudden it is..

Funny that.

Every sane person knows we need to tax the wealthy more.

only brain dead cons cant fiugure it oit

Yeah, especially if he triples it in less than the 1st three years of his regime

That would be pretty crazy.

Which president tripled the debt in less than three years?

Actually, the debt has not been on the front pages until Obama campaigned against it back in 2008.

Now that the debt is national news daily, it is in the forefront of everyones minds.

That being said...I do not consider Obama a failure for not decreasing the debt. Sure, it may have been a campaign promise....but breaking those is par for the course for all elected officials.

However, I am disapointed that the man who put the debt in the forefront of Americans minds has opted to dramatically increase the debt he was so against.

So, the debt wasn't talked about by the left when Bush was President? I disagree.

it was...but it was not news back then.....it was more of an attack on Bush and the wars....it was mnore about "we cant afford to pay for these wars"....

I NEVER heard the media talk about how "our grandchildren will be responsible for the debt"

Obama made it big when he campaigned....and the media jumped on it.

That dramatic debt increase didn't happen in a vacuum.

In each year, 2009 and 2010, we took in about $600 billion less in revenue than we did in 2008.

Don't forget to take a look at the GOP who weren't willing to budge on tax increases and military spending cuts as part of a comprehensive plan to reduce the deficit.

It sucks that the Dems and the Reps couldn't come together and craft a real plan to address the deficit but instead silly partisanship and ideology kept anything meaningful from getting done.
