CNN: Perry enters race in virtual tie with Romney, Bachmann fades « Hot Air

Texas Governor Rick Perry will upend the Republican presidential primary with his entry this weekend, CNN’s latest national poll shows. He starts off in a virtual tie with Mitt Romney, 17/15, with his nearest competitors at 12%. Perhaps most surprisingly, Michele Bachmann isn’t among them — and her support gets cut almost in half with Perry’s candidacy:

Damn. I was so hoping for that teleprompter-free White House.

History?

If Perry wins he will more then likely choose her for his running mate.

As much as the left would love to see that, I don't believe Perry is quite that dumb. Most likely he would take a fiscal conservative that is not really into the conservative social agenda.

Too early to write her off.

Republicans are desperately searching for a candidate, which is odd, given how vulnerable Obama is. Perry may be that candidate, but he could also fizzle. Bachmann has more substance than Palin, and could give those on the right a good run.

Perry/Cain 2012

I could live with that.

I'd love to see JC Watts get into it -

He's incredible.

He was a good scrambler.

I would pick Marco Rubio. That would get a few of the Hispanic voters that will be able to legally vote. The rest will be bussed from the casinos, factories, and hotels by the DNC and unions with documents from ACORN.

I doubt that. [Or maybe I just hope it doesn't]

It wouldn't be smart to have a less popular version of yourself as a running mate.

Perry should grab a moderate or an eastern conservative like Cristi outta NJ

I just couldn't imagine Two bible thumping nutfucks in the WH at the same time prayer circling each other.

He's already cooked himself with the Prayer thing. I saw a video yesterday where he practically looked like a megachurch evangelist huckster shilling for the big bucks.

He might as well double down if he wins it. Besides I doubt any serious candidate is going to run with him. All are still young enough for 2016.
