Here is my question for the Democratic Socialists....

1. Do you still want to allow people who put in the effort to design and develop a business plan, then execute said plan while taking tons of risk to enjoy the benefits of being successful? IE If I start a business and end up killing it and making a ton of money are you going to want to redistribute it across the board to the point that the risk I took wasn't worth taking in the first place? Under your form of govt will we still have people that are wealthy or will everyone be brought onto the same playing field?

If the answer to this is no we will be redistributing it at an extremely high rate and passing it around to others then what will push the incentive for innovation? Why would someone want to take a risk when the reward just isn't worth what it once was.

If the answer again is no, we will be redistributing it at an extremely high rate then for doctors or prospective doctors, where is the value in going to 8 yrs of med school when he or she could get a regular degree and a regular job and live the same lifestyle that everyone else is living? This would drive our best and brightest to be complacent.

This is the issue I have with socialism. It eventually leads to apathy where innovation, creation, and drive are killed.

If you were to take a look at all of the countries that you have mentioned that are "Democratic Socialist" societies, they are all very small with an economy not even a 10th of the size of the US. Their population is not very diverse. The taxation is through the roof and the healthcare is substandard.

Most wealthy foreigners when seriously ill (talking cancer/ life threatening illness) come to the states for treatment. Why would they do that if their healthcare system is so great?

I would imagine if you asked someone with a life threatening illness/injury at that exact point in time if they wanted free subpar healthcare or be in debt up to their eyeballs after receiving life saving treatment from tremendous ER doctors they would unanimously select the "I am glad to be alive and in debt" instead of being dead because our medical care was subpar.

Here is the deal, I can understand why the Democratic Socialism thing is so attractive. In a perfect world it would be sustainable. Heck in a perfect world inherent value wouldn't be a thing and we could all have whatever we wanted. Economics suggest that our world is not that way, everything has a cost, if you can't cover your cost your in big trouble. That goes for corporations, personal finances and ultimately the government.

I have never seen someone denied healthcare, so the argument of healthcare for anyone is mute. We already offer healthcare for everyone, just at a cost. There are also tons and tons of non profits that work to provide for less fortunate citizens that can't afford the cost of their healthcare.

Also, you already got "affordable" insurance for everyone where nobody can be denied. As you have seen the issue with this is that it now isn't affordable to everyone, why? Because everything has a cost and the market determines that cost. No matter how much govt legislation you push through the market will always correct itself and win.

This is what will ultimately happen if we go down your road, and I will use healthcare as an example. When we first start out things will be ok and there will be enough money to go around. Ultimately that money will inevitably run dry. Once it runs dry we will no longer be able to afford top of the line medical care for everyone so the govt will start to cut cost by hiring less skilled doctors, drop the state of the art medical equipment, and let facilities go to hell because we can't afford to upkeep and mondernize them. Then we will all be stuck with sub par "free" healthcare. This same thing will play out over many different private industries until we are broke. Once broke the govt will make the decision to further overstep and viola we have entered true communism, Old Russia here we come!

Now if your answer to the first two questions is yes, people will still be allowed to make as much money as they can then by all means I am open to listening more.
