From your list: Deforestation

If there's one tragedy that humanity has inflicted on this planet and will continue to inflict it's that one.

That occurs mostly in third world countries that don't have advanced industrial economies, so it appears the cure is more capitalism.

It happens everywhere. There's no money in preserving forests or animals. Governments are the only thing that can offer them protection.

Capitalism? It's ensured that the cows, chickens, roses, and Christmas trees will be around forever. As for the less use-able of Earth's inhabitants? Hardly

A dollar to the Nature Conservancy does WAAAAAAY more good for conservation than a dollar to the BLM or Forest Service or any other GOVT agency...

Ask any serious environmentalist who they'd rather have manage a piece of critical habitat.

Wrong. If forests are private property, then there is money in preserving them and their animals. In Texas they have game ranches where hunters pay big bucks to hunt exotic African game. The owners breed these animals for a profit. Over hunting always occurs on government property.

They are only "less usable" because that aren't privately owned.

Natural gas fracing is dangerous?

That's news to me.

What we should now is what a fucking moron you happen to be.

That would be "fracking" and "know". Has the "k" on your "k"eyboard stopped working? It woke up for "fucking".

But, there's the rub. The Nature Conservancy has to ask you for that dollar. The government can just take it.

Deforestation in the third world is an unintended consequence of environmentalists active campaign to deny them a modern power grid such as they enjoy themselves. People must have energy and if that wall outlet in your home suddenly becomes unavailable, the first place you will look for the energy you need to stay alive is the trees in your back yard. When they are gone, then you spread outward. If everyone is doing the same thing, it doesn't take long till trees are a rare commodity.

Don't confuse environmentalists with conservationists. One group is about making themselves feel good, the other is about actually conserving natural resources.

Then you should KNOW that ASKING is far more productive than TAKING.. Nature Conservancy gets land easements and cooperation by working WITH land owners.

A concept totally foreign to your run of the mill leftist eco-naut..

Funny story about the Nature Conservancy.. They were in my will for a chunk of change that would have bought nuts for a million squirrels for a decade. Until the day I got a solicitation from them asking for money for "Global Warming remediation in the Hudson River valley".. They know they got dropped. But my friends and family also know my intent to kick some of the booty in their direction when too much time on USMB does me in...

Ohhhhhh......depleted uranium, sounds scary.

Another leftist eco-fraud monster under the bed.. It's used as tail ballast in airplanes.
And it's value is in DENSITY --- not radiation...

We should cut Duddly Luddite some slack.. He's TRYING to negotiate... Probably the only lefty I know who recognizes the value of that..
