What if religion stuck to the vital points: God loves us. Let's love others the way God loves us. When we fail, but continue to try, God forgives us our sins. Let's forgive others as God forgives us.

If we let religion teach us to love and forgive, and if we let science, history, and archaeology teach us about the world, maybe there would be fewer people who feel that they have been lied to and deceived--who now are doing their best to reveal some truth.

The Catholic Church has founded thousands of schools, universities, colleges, and law schools where all these topics are discussed. The Catholic Church has never held that any of these topics conflict with the Catholic faith.
