A better question is: How would T.J. put this in the form of a question:
Trumbo is scheduled for release in early November.
I doubt if anybody born after 1980 will be interested in the plot. Younger Americans who might be interested in the plot consist of idiot liberals who think they sound politically astute when they talk about the Hollywood Blacklist āā without knowing what it was all about.
Us old folks remember the early days of television when HUAC hearings was big news; possibly the first big media story ever televised because so many movie stars testified:
I will checkout Trumbo after it shows up on TV, but I cannot promise to watch the entire movie. Iām outta there as soon as I smell the same old Hollywood liberal rant.
Iām betting that Trumbo will not go to the heart the matter:
Did Communists have the right to dictate the use of private property they did not own?
That question was never asked because media Communists helped Hollywood Lefties turn it into a Fifth Amendment issue.
To this day you will be hard-pressed finding Americans who know that the Hollywood Ten were defending Communism. Most Americans believe the lie Hollywood Lefties have been telling for more than 60 years: The Hollywood Ten were defending the Constitution for all of us.
The so-called Hollywood Blacklist was nothing more than property owners defending their Right to refuse to hire employees who decided the work they would do. (Imagine a plumber you hire to fix a leak telling you: I am going to paint your front door and you still have to pay me.)
Every employer in the world āā except movie studios āā had that Right to hire and fire. The crap Hollywood produces with tax breaks, subsidies, propaganda inserted in movies paid for by the United Nations, and so on since the death of the studio system opened the door to every employer losing their most important Right. Thankfully, crap has been reducing the movie industry to a shrinking subculture in the years since HUAC.
Put aside liberals milking a lie for decades, and you will see that nothing stopped Hollywood Lefties from saying everything they wanted to say on their own dime. They did not have the Right to force someone else to pay them for saying it.
To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical. Thomas Jefferson

During the investigative hearings, members of HUAC grilled the witnesses about their past and present associations with the Communist Party. Aware that their answers could ruin their reputations and careers, most individuals either sought leniency by cooperating with investigators or cited their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. However, a group of 10 Hollywood screenwriters and directors took a different approach and openly challenged the legitimacy of the committeeās investigations.
The Hollywood Ten were controversial figures at the time they launched their protest, and their actions continue to inspire debate decades later. Some tend to view their punishment as justified, since the individuals were admitted communists, while others generally view them as heroic figures who spoke out against the abuses of the Red Scareāand in defense of the U.S. Constitutionāwhen many of their colleagues remained silent.
