This is a sample of what I know about the earth's history, these are taken right out of my head.

The Universe was created approximately 13.7 billion years ago, it went from a mass of nothing but indefinitely hot, indefinitely dense, indefinitely violent, raving ball of nothing but pure energy, smaller than a subatomic particle cut in to millions.... and being smaller than just one of those pieces...

And when it exploded, it expanded to light years in size, in the matter of Planck Times.
There are more units of Planck Time, in just 1 single second, then there have ever been seconds since the Big Bang.
Long before the universe even reached the size of the earth after the big bang, the subatomic articles would form the elements on the Periodic table of the elements which creates matter.
And, Matter has won the battle with Anti Matter.

The earth would begin to take shape 9.2 billion years after the Big Bang that created the Universe.

The earth is approximately, scientifically estimated to be about 4.5 billion years old.
There are four Eons, which in geologic order are the Hadean, the Archaean, the Proterozoic and the Phanerozoic.

The earth was originally forming from the Hadean, to the Proterozoic, which has by far taken up most of the earth's geologic natural history.

From the Hadean to the Proterozoic, the earth has gained its Shape, its size, its Crust, an Atmosphere, Water, and Carbon and Proteins put into the water to create life.
The life of the Proterozoic Eon, was microscopic single celled bacterial organisms living in the water.

The Birth of our moon would come from the debris that was created by the collision between the earth, and Theia while the earth's crust was nothing but hot lava.

Snowball Earth. a massive ice age that lasted about 75 times longer than the span of human history, is what separates the Proterozoic, from the Phanerozoic.

The beginning of the Phanerozoic Eon is marked by the Cambrian Explosion, which is the evolution of microscopic single celled organisms, into complex multi celled organisms, the plants and animals under the sea.

In the Phanerozoic Eon, is the current eon and is about 541 million years old so far, there have been three Eras, which in Geologic order, are the Paleozoic, the Mesozoic and Cenozoic.
The Paleozoic is Early life, the Mesozoic is Middle Life, and the Cenozoic is New Life.

The Paleozoic had Six Periods.

In Geologic order, they are the The Cambrian, The Ordovician, the Silurian, the Devonian, the Carboniferous, and the Permian.

The Paleozoic has seen the evolution of ferns relying on spores, to much more self reliant plants relying on seeds which carries its own water and nutrients to germinate.

The Paleozoic has seen the evolution of the Invertebrates which are Arthropods, and Hyperoartia (animals like the lamprey today).. which were the first vertebrates.

The evolution of the jaw and fins and the Notochord would create Fish.

The Notochord would evolve into the Backbone, in the Paleozoic.

The Paleozoic also seen the evolution of the Ulna and Radius that would create the first limbs, limbs that would take a fish called Tiktaalik, onto land, to become Amphibians.
Amphibians that would evolve into Reptiles which colonized the land away from water.

Invertebrates like Arthropods would evolve into Insects.

The end of the Carboniferous would see the end of the Giant insects, and the Permian extinction would end the reign of the early Animals that were king of the Paleozoic.

The Mesozoic has had three periods.

The Triassic, the Jurassic and The Cretaceous.

Dinosaurs would evolve from the Reptiles in the late Triassic period.

The Mesozoic would see the reptiles develop many important features, including the Hip, and evolve into two things.
The Dinosaurs, and Mammaliaformes.

Land reptiles would also evolve into Marine Reptiles.

Both would lay eggs, as would the first true mammals that evolved from these Mammaliaformes,

The Mammals would stop laying eggs, and become either Placentals which carry the fetuses internally, or become Marsupials, which carry their fetuses outside of their bodies in a pouch..
Mammals would also develop night vision and develop a malleus and incus.

The Dominant Dinosaurs would take the form of Theropods, and Sauropods.

Predatory dinosaurs would evolve into birds.

The K/T Extinction would give the earth to Mammals and the Asteroid that created the Chicxulub crater would end the Mesozoic Era and give rise to the Cenozoic Era about 65 million years ago..

The Cenozoic is the Era that we live in today, and it has had three periods so far.

In geologic order, they are the Paleogene, the Neogene, and the Quaternary.

The Cenozoic would see the explosion of diverse and specialized mammal life.

We are the descendants of the early primates called Adaptiformes, of which Darwinius Masillae was a member of, that would evolve into Monkeys and Apes.
Humans would evolve from the Chimpanzees over the course of millions of years.

The first of the genus Homo would be Homo Habilis.

Homo Sapiens would evolve from other Humans, specifically the Homo sapien idaltu.

That's an impressive amount of information for off the top of your head. That being said, if there is any post that does not qualify as "current events", this is it.

Perhaps you consider it to be a current event that you "currently know" this information.

A strange topic for Current Events, but you should realize that none of this is knowledge, but only the latest theory and estimates derived therefrom.

A century ago the Bohr atom was considered fact, as was the Phlogiston theory the century before that.

A century from now who knows what will be still considered fact and what the estimated dates and time spans of everything will be then?

I dont know, but then neither you nor anyone else really knows either.
