    What could be the reason?

Hmmm....what if you're grazing cows on the land your family has used for almost 100 years and suddenly the Department of Land Management's private army shows up with armored vehicles, automatic eeapons, and snipers who are pointing their guns at your wife and childrens' heads, steals and butchets 100 head of your cows, and are trying to run you off the land do a Senatir can use that land for personal financial gain?

    Nah, strawman argument....would never happen.

How about if you get attacked by terrorists who are armed with automatic weapons they acquired from Mexican Drug Cartels who got thousands of automatic weapons from the US government? Yeah, right....that's ridiculous, too - would never happen.

Maybe but apparently not as much as you love straw men, instead of gun control laws maybe we need some fallacy control laws.
