Conservatives miss the communists. They were united in those days.
Ah, the good ol' days...
Yeah those were the days when we fought them and the Iron curtain fell...

Ah, the good ol' days...
The problem is, people like you see Communism in every policy idea that you don't agree with. You also believe anything your right wing media outlets tell you....because they are the only ones that "speak the truth"....in other words, you agree with.
There's also many flavors of communism that go all the way from libertarian to authoritarian, real self-described commies in America are harmless, excruciatingly boring people no one pays any attention to.
Communism requires cooperation to be successful.
The problem is that most humans want to be rewarded for their contributions to society accordingly via compensation.
The medical doctor is not equal to the shoe shiner....

And in what universe was this in???
40-50 years ago both parties viewed communism for the barbaric, anti-democratic and murderous socioeconomic model that communism was.
50 years later democrats are a bunch of fucking socialists whom ironically praise JFK (a staunch anti-communist to the point of paranoia)...
I suppose Oswald got what he wanted (if he was the assassin).

If you are looking for someone to argue the merits of communism you are not going to find it here.

Communism has no merits in practice...
Well, unless individuals er "comrades" enjoy the Gulag or eating government cheese a and salted sausage that is a year old.

All political ideologies have some overlap somewhere, want to talk about the overlaps that American conservatism has with fascism?

Most conservatives aren't any more fascist than Obama.
Obamafuck is a fascist - potentially a corporate/union fascist.
At the same time most progressives view any part of a dominate industry despite the competition in the private sector "fascism."
When there is competition there is no fascism, hence only the government can create a fascist economy via regulation..
Capitalism cannot be fascist via rule...

Better check the last statement with the capitalist fascists in Germany and Italy in the 1930s and 1940s. Capitalism can easily be the economy of a dictatorship.

Correct, but as you know, thats not the point.
For conservatives communist means disloyal, un-American, traitor, impugning the patriotism and commitment to American ideals of liberals and democrats.
Its a failed, tired, boring tactic of the right. .
