Yes I agree anyone involved in getting Government contracts need to be tested from the CEO to the clerksShouldn't farmers who receive taxpayer funded crop subsidies have to prove they are not wasting the money on drugs?
Shouldn't the recipients of massive corporate welfare have to prove they're not on drugs?
Or that matter, I'd like to see them show us how they're spending the tax payer's money.
Sure...Relatively modest is actually not looking at the costs saved by those not applying. It then goes on to show a saving of $350,000.
Didn't complete the process, drug testing.
Not only that, in a number of states they actually have programs they offer to these recipients, to help them beat their drug use. They also know, if their are kids in the custody of these recipients, and there is hard drug use, they know they need to check the welfare of these kids. Do understand, the kids benefits are not denied. The benefits of parents drug free to these children cannot be measured.Where savings are reported, they are relatively modest. In its first year with a questionnaire-plus-testing policy, Utah reportedly spent $30,000 on the screening to net 12 positive tests. In total, 250 people were denied benefits, in most cases because they didn't complete the process. As a result, the state saved $350,000 in benefits not paid.
Did they find a job????...nah...it had to be they were drug users according to some posters...
Being on welfare is never easy jag offThe whole thing is intended to demean welfare recipient with the stereotype all welfare recipient are lazy drug using slackers...it is also a way for the GOP Governors to make money from drug testing...these laws are meant for the Ni**ersBecause he knew it would only be applied to "those people."I find it comical that Trey Radel voted for drug testing welfare recipients and than gets busted for blow. What a hypocrite.
Being on welfare shouldnt be easy. And I damn sure dont care if they get their feelings hurt.

What 7 States Discovered After Spending More Than 1 Million Drug Testing Welfare Recipients ThinkProgress
According to state data gathered by ThinkProgress, the seven states with existing programs — Arizona, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Utah — are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to ferret out very few drug users. The statistics show that applicants actually test positive at a lower rate than the drug use of the general population. The national drug use rate is 9.4 percent. In these states, however, the rate of positive drug tests to total welfare applicants ranges from 0.002 percent to 8.3 percent, but all except one have a rate below 1 percent. Meanwhile, they’ve collectively spent nearly $1 million on the effort, and millions more may have to be spent in coming years.
Feel free to show any data that shows these drug tests are making a difference
care to provide proof of this lie ?

Yo, drug testing should pay for itself after catching a few? The money used for Welfare should pay for it in the long run!!! The Radicals don`t like it because it might cost them voters in the long run!!! Because the ones who get caught will have to find a JOB, and eventually their mindset will change, hey, being responsible for yourself is the "RIGHT" thing to do!!!!!!

Are the ones cutting people out going to be tested also? They get paid with tax dollars. Local, county, and state employees get paid with tax dollars. Shouldn't they also be tested? And, what is the states going to do with those that fail the drug tests? If a mother fails, and has three very small children to feed, what will happen to the children? Are the states going to allow them to starve because their mother failed the drug test? And, what about testing everyone that gets tax dollars? Those that are requiring the tests, get paid via tax dollars. Are we going to be fair across the board, or just single out the poor, the less fortunate, and the disabled? Are we going to deny disabled Vets benefits? Are we going to deny small children food? What happens to those cut from the program?I support this
Lets get it expanded to cover all 50 states

In most states, people collecting welfare can “earn” more money than if they worked full time at a minimum wage job, and these welfare payouts can take up roughly one-quarter to one-third of eachindividual state’s budget.
In order to cut down on these insanely high and growing costs, many states have moved to crack down on waste, fraud and abuse in their welfare programs.
One method many states have chosen to do this, and that 12 more states are now seriously looking at, is through drug testing for welfare recipients, the theory being that if someone has enough money to buy and use drugs, they don’t need or deserve welfare assistance from taxpayers.
Of course liberals will weep and wail and gnash their teeth, calling the drug testing of welfare recipients cruel, unfair and discriminatory, apparently oblivious to the fact that a majority of the workers who pay the taxes that fund welfare were required to pass a drug test in order to get their jobs
