Virtually ALL the 'soap' being sold in the supermarkets is NOT real soap. It has the vital chemical glycerin removed. Glycerin is used to lubricate such things as missile components b/c glycerine does not freeze in extremely low temperatures.
This fake soap is full of chemicals to make it foam for instance. All kinds of manmade chemical perfumes. Etc etc.
We have been making our own soap for hand washing/hair washing/laundry for 27 years.
Where does the word 'soap' come from?
'Soap' is the short word of the process of 'saponification'.
Real soap only has three ingredients: Lye (we use lye crystals), water and some sort of oil/animal fat. We use refined coconut oil which we purchase in 5 gallon pails.
The ratio of water/lye/coconut oil is critical.
We use the 'hot process' instead of the 'cold' process.
