Ok then. If tariffs helped Japan but hurt Hungary we should figure out why. Is Hungary politically stable? Is Japan special for any reason? Which is America's position more similar to?

Current Russian cars are the same quality as Hungarian cars. Makes for interesting reading. There is nothing to figure out. Putting someone on welfare or a tariff is a big negative as it frees them from competition and impoverishes those who must pay the higher prices and endure the lower quality. We have free trade now mostly because it is the one thing economists can agree on.
