Who is making the claim that there was not an economic downturn in 2007-2008? No one I see is doing so. What I see is that the left is making an induendo that someone is, that is what the left does.

What was said then is that what Obama and the democrats, who were in total control of congress and had been for the two years the economy took a hit, were doing would fail. The evidence is clear it has. The best that the left can say is that it would have been worse. 4 trillion of our grandchildren's wealth put onto our grandchildren for an 8 percent unemployment rate. That isn't sucess. Just as we said, what they were doing would result in what happened. Now if we were not stuck at 8 percent you would have something to crow about, but you don't.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The ranks of America's poor are on track to climb to levels unseen in nearly half a century, erasing gains from the war on poverty in the 1960s amid a weak economy and fraying government safety net.

Census figures for 2011 will be released this fall in the critical weeks ahead of the November elections.

The Associated Press surveyed more than a dozen economists, think tanks and academics, both nonpartisan and those with known liberal or conservative leanings, and found a broad consensus: The official poverty rate will rise from 15.1 percent in 2010, climbing as high as 15.7 percent. Several predicted a more modest gain, but even a 0.1 percentage point increase would put poverty at the highest since 1965.

Of course Clinton had a Republican Congress with a contract to America in which they were successful in fulfilling. What did Clinton leave Bush? A recession, a dot.com crash, free trade agreements, a Y2K wind down and yes 9/11. All that and the economy remained stable. But now the chickens are coming home to roost over Clinton's free trade agreements and some act surprised.
