Has anyone heard about this breaking news story? The US apparently halted transfer of Hellfire missiles to Israel yesterday. While one US diplomat states, "We were blindsided", the US defense is claiming that isn't the case. Who is telling the truth here and what does this all mean for Israel?

Here is a clip from the news story:

The US administration has halted a shipment of Hellfire aerial anti-armor missiles to Israel, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing government sources.
The sources noted that Israel had requested the transfer of ammunitions directly from the Pentagon, without receiving the approval of the White House or State Department officials.

"We were blindsided," one US diplomat said, while a US defense official insisted that "there was no intent to blindside anyone. The process for this transfer was followed precisely along the lines that it should have."

According to the sources, White House officials were concerned about Israel's use of artillery, instead of precision-guided munitions in the more densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip.

Here is another report that is just breaking...... I am trying to get the gist of what is going on here. Look at this story breaking right now.

Obama?s ?Unprecedented? Support of Israel Includes Blocking Arms | Washington Free Beacon

The Obama administration confirmed on Thursday reports that it had, in an unusual move, proactively stepped in to hold up arms shipments to Israel for further review as the current conflict in the Gaza strip continues.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf confirmed to reporters the accuracy of reports published in both the United States and Israel revealing that the White House was subjecting to further review Israeli requests for ammunition shipments, which typically have not needed explicit White House approval.

The added reviews on the munitions shipments prompted accusations that the White House is punishing Israel and injecting partisan politics into a military process typically unaffected by diplomacy issues between the two allies.

So that is definite shift in policy as I understand it - reading this second news report - which clarifies the former. imo.

Actually, if you will look at the breaking news story coming out a few hours ago - second news link posted, TheOldSchool, you will note that the Obama administration confirmed on Thursday reports that it had, in an unusual move, proactively stepped in to hold up arms shipments to Israel for further review as the current conflict in the Gaza strip continues.

Now as I read this, it states, that they had stepped in to hold up arms shipments to Israel for further review.... would that not mean all arms shipments? What say you? I am just learning of this news now. Why would they do this? Feel free to share your thoughts about this latest news. Thank you.

I'm not surprised. The Obama administration has certainly not been very sympathetic to Israel. As long as he is president, we don't have any allies or friends in this world. I guess this is his idea of "doing something" besides playing golf.

The disparity in casualties maybe? All the dead civilians? The doubt that anyone over there ever intends for there to be any kind of peace perhaps?

When your investing in a moneypit, I thinks it's pretty logical to review what you're doing. You disagree?

Israel has used these missiles and other U.S. supplied weapons to kill about 2,000 people, most of whom were innocent civilians.
It seems perfectly reasonable to review arms supplies to any country that is accused of serious war crimes.

Israel has a thriving economy and culture which begs me to ask why they need so much free shit from the US?

Anyway, that economy produces kids. As the population grows it's going to move eastward to sustain itself. That's part of the reason why Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. Where are all these Palestinian people going to go? Disneyland? Detroit? Camden NJ?

What ? They don't go to Florida anymore ?

I love sarcasm!

There is no good reason for the U.S. government to give these missiles to the terrorist state of Israel. ...

This one statement alone, provides more than enough evidence to justify frog marching the above contributor into its dog kennel at Gitmo.

You know there's a lot of good porn on the internet. I think your time would be better served at those places. Give it a shot bro

Well, in Israel's defense, those 'people', were part and parcel of the group that attacked Israel.

Ya see scamp, in reality, when you're party to threatening one's life, you forfeit any claim to a right to your own life.

See how that works?

"Cogency"... Do some research on that and see if you can work it into your future communications.

You might be surprised how it helps... .

I do not know at this point; the US wants Israel to use precision guided missiles. I want the cease fire to hold, and an Agreement to end the killings. Is Hamas ready for an end to the deaths?

Israel Hayom | US, Israel insist: No crisis over delayed missile shipment

Anyway, its just another way to create a rift in between IL-US, the entire plot were analyzed in the middle (by the Wallstreet Journal) and caused many half-time involved media/politics officials to jump to conclusions and win some popularity..nothing unusual.

Asked about the report, State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf said U.S. arms transfers were put under greater scrutiny, but she sought to play down the idea that the White House or State Department were surprised by the Pentagon's shipments or that there was any diminution of U.S. support for Israel.

"Given the crisis in Gaza, it's natural that agencies take additional care to review deliveries as part of an interagency process. That is by no means unusual and, again, does not indicate any change in policy," Harf told reporters.

In Jerusalem, officials also appeared unperturbed. According to diplomatic officials, the delay of the missile shipment did not indicate a diplomatic crisis. "Despite efforts to present a crisis atmosphere, business between Israel and the U.S. is as usual," said one official, adding that the missiles will eventually be transferred.

This kind of blind guessing is like saying the sun won't shine tomorrow because last time it got dark..pure stupidity :D

That would be an unlawful act and a waste of space considering all of the really bad terrorists running around who deserve that cell.

Terrorism is, often times, just a word with no meaning depending on what side you fall on. I'm sure the countless human beings we've exterminated over the last century would have considered some of us terrorists as well.
