After more than 50 years......we are finally recognizing Cuba

U.S. and Cuba to announce embassy openings - CNNPolitics.com

We will formally announce tomorrow that the United States and Cuba have reached an agreement to re-establish formal diplomatic relations and open embassies in each other's capitals," one senior U.S. administration official said. "We expect President Obama and Secretary Kerry to address this publicly tomorrow morning."

The re-establishing of embassies is a final step in the full diplomatic thaw President Barack Obama initiated in December. Since then, the United States has loosened some travel restrictions to Cuba and allowed for some new economic ties.

You people sure know how to cheer failure. The luckiest people in Cuba will get to come here and live like kings. Unlike the rest of their citizens stuck in communism.

You mean like the billion and a half communists in China?
Like the 80 million communists in Vietnam?

We have embassies in both...why did it take Obama to realize it?

So we're rewarding a communist nation? I thought we were against that?

The generation being born today will have no idea why we were even "against" them in the first place. Then you'll explain our multiple attempts on the life of their leader, and they'll look at you like you're a fucking tard.

So what did the US get in exchange for this concession? Nothing. It is Obama's magical negotiating strategy once again: give them everything they want and hope no one notices.

Well , transformation marches on. Cuba will now again dump all it's violent prisoners on us. if this isn't Treason by a President bringing in all kinds of illegal immigrants from around the world (and calling them, refugees and DUMPING THEM in our states, I don't know what is.

Stephanie hates the idea

Must be a great plan

All the arguments will stop when the far right finds out about the great vacations that will be available on the Cuban beaches.

The fact is the Cold War has been over and Cuba never changed during that time, so why keep failed policies in place?

It open the door to tourism, and bringing money into the Cuban economy which in return will one day bring change to the Island after the Castro regime is gone.

And the luckiest people in those countries get to come here and live like no other in their homeland could possible imagine. But that is communism after all. The low life's work themselves to death but the proletariat...now they get to live pretty special lives enjoying everything the US can offer and they despise at home. Being a US diplomate is pretty good work if you aren't assigned to the communist farm to pull weeds.

What do we get?

Trade, tourism, normalized relations with a neighbor

What did we give away again?
