Union Payback

And all the asshole Democrats just smile and nod at the destruction they have brought to America.. Yep!

Really? Having worked with non-union 'construction workers', I find it reassuring that we are locking unqualified people out of the work on vital projects. All too many of these non-union 'construction workers' are undocumented aliens. Where I work, we do not allow non-union contractors to work on our vital machinery. Even though we are non-union ourselves.

What we do need to do, and, yes, it will increase costs, it to have more apprentices being trained on these jobs. That was one of the many benefits of the old WPA and CCC. But we will have a better trained workforce as the economy comes back on line, and that will speed the recovery.

Hey Willow, my grandparents and parents lived through the First Great Republican Depression, now I get to live through the Second Great Republican Depression. Oh joy:(

25,000 businesses put at risk with a stroke of Obama's pen

I wonder how 84% of construction workers are going to feel when they realize that Obama has locked them out of bidding for federal contracts?

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I blame the Republicans. The Democrats are who they are. They have always supported unions, big government and socialistic policies. Even when they say they are centrists, everyone knows they're not. Republicans, on the other hand, have been trying to pander to conservatives and claim they are for smaller government, but they aren't. They have failed miserably during the last 8 years and allowed people like Obama, Pelosi and Reid to take power. Once the Democrats pass their huge government spending bills, that'll be that.

Exactly how does paying union dues make someone more qualified than the next guy? Do you have to pass a test to be a union member? Unqualified minds would like to know.

Well,I blame the people who knew Obama was dangerous to our country and still saw to it he was elected because they were too piggish and proud to vote for McCain. People reap what they sew and not just the Republicans currently in office that you hate so much...

That's excellent news, anyone who has any knowledge of the history of working people and the means to move a society from third world status to the modern world recognizes the critical part Unions play in creating that robust world. Reagan destruction of workers rights is a key part of why our nation is crumbling and Clinton helped by buying into market fantasy.

Given that the USA declared war on unions thanks to Reagan and the PATCO affair, I'd say this is a good first step to giving workers back the rights they once had.

Collective bargaining is an integral part of what made the American middle class possible.

Horse shit. Last I checked Unions are not mandatory. They are mostly corrupt and heavily infiltrated by the mob. They openly discriminate and are anti woman. This is ignorant as hell. You all boo hoo hooed about competitive contracts and are now supporting JUST the opposite. When the Government locks out 84 percent of the work force that is NOT competitive at all. It is favoritism and it is illegal.

They're going to reconsider not being members of their trade unions, I suppose.

Am I supposed to care about the scabs who expect unions to keep up every person in a trade's rate of pay, when they'll undermine that rate by working for slightly less?

I don't.
