UNH student receives suspended sentence for voter fraud

CONCORD — A University of New Hampshire student who registered to vote in Durham and cast an absentee ballot in Massachusetts during the 2016 election admitted to committing voter fraud on Thursday.

Spencer McKinnon, 21, pleaded guilty in Strafford County Superior Court to a misdemeanor charge of providing a false statement on a voter registration form, the Attorney General’s office announced Friday. His sentence of six months in a house of corrections was suspended on the condition that he complete 200 hours of community service and pay a $2,000 fine. McKinnon also lost the right to vote in New Hampshire.

On Oct. 24, 2016, McKinnon mailed an absentee ballot to the clerk in his hometown of Dracut, Mass. Two days later, he signed a voter registration form in Durham and attested that he “was not domiciled or voting in any other state or any other city/town,” according to the Attorney General’s office.

McKinnon was originally indicted on a felony voter fraud charge for actually voting in Durham after having voted in Massachusetts, but the Attorney General’s office dropped that charge as part of the plea agreement.

His conviction was the first one resulting from the state’s use of the Interstate Voter Crosscheck Program. So far, the Attorney General’s office has also brought voter fraud charges against three other people for casting ballots in the 2016 election.

Yet it pales in comparison to the GOP of North Carolina getting an election thrown out because of voter fraud committed by Republicans...Ouch!

/----/ I wonder if he used the libtard talking point "No such thing as voter fraud" defense.
Oh, No, Virginia: There Is No Such Thing As Voter Fraud ...

Democrats tell us all the time: there is no such thing as voter fraud. Show them the evidence - such as this report from the Public Interest Legal Foundation that found more than 1,000 non-citizens registered to vote in Virginia -- and they reply, well that is just anecdotal.

Voter ID regulations wouldn't have stopped this student from voting twice.

They managed to catch him so I'd say that's pretty tight regulations.

....the OP's first sentence is correct--we can't take chances on something this important
..what you are saying is like since they caught ONE shoplifter, they must've caught them all!!
...since they caught ONE drunk driver, that must be all of them
