So umm how exactly did they expect to handle violent criminals without guns? That's like saying you think that you can jump from an airplane without a parachute and survive. It's completely amazing just how stupid this country has gotten.

WEHO did it because of funding. AFAIK, and if that job requires a guard card and if something goes bad, like the ambassador is somehow in the wrong, a suit against that guard is solely his/her responsibility. Good enough reason to stand back.

If “security officers” aren't planning on “jumping in” to the middle of “security” incidents, then why have them in the first place? If I was hired to be a “security officer” then I would be obligated to jump into the middle of a security situation. Otherwise … I may as well be a florist.
