I seem to remember one candidate in particular that spoke out harshly during the campaign against involving ourselves in the UN

It will be an exceptional precedent.
Not only for what he did with Afghanistan, Iraq, Guantanamo, ... etc. and probably in New York, but also for generating this incredible, unbelievable and absurd, but actual, true and real situation of fear, insecurity and violence, all around the World.
Having also well in mind the fact that he was not alone, and that he is not the only American politician, responsible (or ... “irresponsible”) of such situation.
I hope he will be prosecuted.
