$5,000 was their limit without an approval, and there is actually another SCIF {Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) already in the same building, but apparently the rat couldn't be bothered with going to a different floor than the one his office is on. How much longer can this corrupt swamp creature possibly last? :dunno:

Critics of Scott Pruitt got fresh ammunition against the embattled EPA administrator on Monday, with two federal reports revealing that EPA had broken the law in building him a secure phone booth [SCIF] and that the agency had granted previously undisclosed pay raises of more than 20 percent to his political appointees.

EPA failed to notify lawmakers that it spent more than $43,000 to build a secure phone booth for Pruitt's office, according to a report from the Government Accountability Office on Monday morning.

EPA is addressing GAO’s concern, with regard to Congressional notification about this expense, and will be sending Congress the necessary information this week,” spokeswoman Liz Bowman said in a statement.

I would surmise the epa’s office of council failed to properly advise on such a purchase needing Congressional approval, just as the career staffer failed to notify the Pruitt’s the costs of the items they selected, which they had actually sent to the Pruitt’s to choose from, without costs attached.
Once again, another fairly apparent case of trying to undermine the epa head any way they can.

It wasn't his money so it was his responsibility to find out what it cost. He knew he had a cost limit. Would you buy something without knowing what it cost?

If I am used to having staff that is trustworthy, probably not. Though, with the crap the former employees have tried to pull, yeah, hindsight can be everything. Doesn’t make him guilty as you wish to make him out to be, though.

Scott Pruitt is as corrupt of an asshole as they come. After 2020, when an AG is appointed that will uphold the law, we should see that bastard in jail.

And he broke the law again.

Over the weekend, we learned Pruitt has an appetite for fancy pens, and reportedly spent $3,230 last August at a D.C. jewelry store on a dozen silver fountain pens and some personalized journals ― at taxpayer expense.
