I agree with Tucker in this case. I agree with stopping driverless trucks, how many people will lose jobs. I don't agree with him on much and Ben S. is hard to even stomach, period. We need capitalism and socialism both together.

Also many people have moved to find work. Detroit is an example and people who are coming from Honduras for a brighter future to work and get out of harms way. People move all the time to get work, Tucker grew up as a spoiled brat.

Each time we have had new technology, we adapt and people find work..... driverless Trucks will be no different......but giving government the power to stop it....giving a few bureaucrats the power to just make that decision without any checks on that power...vs. the free market that at least has failure as a way to control what can and can't make it as a new technology....you prefer the Post Office employee to determine what you can and can't have ?

Ok I'm a truck driver, and trust me, I'm NOT worried about anyone losing their job to a driverless big rig. There are just too many situations where a human is needed. You know how difficult it is to back a 53' trailer that's 8' wide into a hole that's 12 feet wide and you have to nail it at a 90? There are no lines at many places I go so you really have to struggle to get it set right. Some roads I go on are not on any GPS and are dirt, some require you to go through tunnels, etc that no driverless truck could navigate because all GPS signals cease for the entire time you're in the tunnel.

Having an experienced driver behind the wheel of an 80000lb behemoth has proven to be dangerous enough.....one that is driverless completely, not in either of our lifetimes.

Who knew? He wants the government to squash technological advances to save jobs? That is just insane.....true, we need to fix the eductation system and the ways we get people into jobs, but bringing back the horse buggy simply so we keep those jobs is stupid...and that is pretty much what he would have advocated at the time of the transition from horses to cars.....

Our purpose sure as hell isnt sItting in trucks driving goods around. We evolve and find new purpose with every generation . How many people were put out of work with the Invention of the automobile, airplane, e-mail, telephone, video conference, internet, etc etc etc. yes tech kills jobs but it also creates jobs, opportunities and improves our quality of life. The USA is not a country that is scared to go down that path.

Ask a railroad worker how they felt about the automobile and trucking industry. Ask postal workers how they felt about email... we don’t stop tech advancements to save jobs... we use the advancements to creat better jobs. Why have millions of people spending half the year away from their families while sitting behind the wheel when we could have that automated?

We should be focusing on where those workers can go, not on trying to preserve a dying industry. Same thing for fast food workers, and field workers. Those are all going automated.

Perhaps and I would be for it due to the climate. I am sure my postal lady loves her job and is at the same time worried about her job. There are just so many areas for workers to go. Everything is automated now.

It’s a shame to see the personal touch getting lost through the tech boom but it happens because in the end most people and businesses care about affordability and profits. Economically speaking, automation should bring better efficiency, lower costs and more profits so the money will be flowing. We just need to make sure that money flows back to create better jobs and more opportunity.

This is a very different situation than unemployment caused by an economic depression

Productivity has been up for decades -- profits for corporations have went up, wages have stayed stagnant.....they will remain that way for a long time as long as the corporate elites can have workers fighting against each other

wages are up since Trump got into office......
