It seems that every war we've had in the 20th and 21st century has been micromanaged by the White House. Could a business manager be changing this?

It appears so. President Trump has appointed a three star National Security Advisor who seems to think it's the place of the Pentagon to make those decisions – and act upon them. The does do advise the Commander-in-Chief as is appropriate.

While it remains unclear whether the new administration will come up with a strategy significantly different from its predecessor’s, the Trump team may have an effect on how the one it inherited is carried out.

Potentially, by giving field commanders more leeway to exploit opportunities on the battlefield, the Trump administration can execute the Obama administration’s strategy more efficiently,” Mr. Exum said.

This may be a good move, if Trump can keep his promise.

It's no secret that the CIA managed LBJ's war in Vietnam. How did that turn out? Luttrel's book was about a failed SEAL mission in Afghanistan. In the book Luttrell wonders why Seals , who are trained for underwater tactics, are on a mission in the mountains of Afghanistan. Why indeed.? Luttrel also relates that Seals refuse to be housed with other Armed Forces personnel because they might "blurt out secrets in their sleep". It's a laughable concept but the fact that Seals and the public accept such idiocy is indicative of the CIA's power. The Army Special Forces and the Marines have excellent sniper training second to none but it seems that Seals were used as snipers in a freaking desert war in Iraq. The dirty little secret is that the CIA has been using the Seals as their own (faulty?) little agency armed group outside of the conventional Military operations for years. The dirty little secret is that the Pentagon officers chose not to confront previous administrations about control of the Military in order to keep their fat asses molded to their chairs until they collect their pensions.
