I see you really don't understand farmer subsidies. All countries have them in smaller or larger amounts.

Farmers are not bad at farming they ust have to plan far in advance. They have land that is limited in what they can grow. For instance you can not grow oranges in South Dakota, to far north. A farmer spends hundreds of thousands on machinery based on what that land can produce. They then spend thousands on seed and fertilizer based on a hope that in the months that follow he will get a good price on what was planted. During those months of grow time drought, torrential rains, huracanes, freezing weather and more can effect their crop. If the weather, bugs, rodents and other things have not killed off their crops then it is time to harvest. If not too many farmers have planted the same crop, if some country has not dropped a large amount of that same crop at a low price then they can get a decent price for their crop. If they don't get a good price or a crop they can sell they have still either paid for or taken out loans for the seed, machinery, fuel, repair of machinery.

So even if you were the most perfect farmer weather, insects and pieces can still do you in.

Do you think that someone hit by a Huracane or forest fire should not receive help? Obviously they chose to live in the area hit by a flood or tornado.

I'm not claiming to be an expert on farming. But since you did ask nicely....

I am from a large family of farmers/ranchers. I still have family members farming in the OK/TX panhandle. They don't ranch anymore because they had to sell their cattle herd because of the horrible drought. They couldn't buy feed for their cattle. There's only a few left. Most sold off the land because farming is not profitable unless you are a giant corporation who relies on illegal immigrant workers.

I drove a combine for my grandpa one summer when I was barely a teenager. I always ran for the one with air conditioning. My older brother was bigger, but I ran faster.

I don't think farmers deserve additional welfare over folks who need it more and have been waiting longer. Selfish assholes imo. They are mostly from Trump red states and/or counties. They are likely the same people said 'fuck off' to those folks who have been waiting so long for assistance.

So I say to them 'fuck off'. Wait your turn.

Conversely, paying women who have fatherless children IS welfare. WIC is welfare. Helping the truly handicapped is welfare. There are probably a thousand other welfare programs. A lot of which are sorely abused.
