The president’s heavy-handed response to protests against police brutality belies his promise of "law and order."

Notwithstanding Trump's pose as "your president of law and order," his heavy-handed reaction to the protests triggered by George Floyd's death represents neither. In response to largely peaceful demonstrations against police brutality that have been punctuated by criminal behavior, he has deployed his own brand of lawlessness, including arbitrary arrests and the disproportionate, indiscriminate use of force.

"We cannot give up liberty for security," Sen. Rand Paul (R–Ky.) warned on Monday. "Local law enforcement can and should be handling these situations in our cities, but there is no place for federal troops or unidentified federal agents rounding people up at will."

In a federal lawsuit filed on Friday, Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, citing the accounts of protesters who said they had been subjected to such treatment, argues that the Marshals Service and several Homeland Security agencies thereby violated their First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights. "Every American should be repulsed when they see this happening," she said. "If this can happen here in Portland, it can happen anywhere."

Local police are not responding. The same story in Denver, New York, Minneapolis, Seattle, pick your big city. They are being ordered to stand down by Democratic local leadership. So what is your solution? Let it burn? Let the kids keep getting shot? Let the businesses keep getting looted? Let the cities keep getting destroyed?

Ironically, the Dems are giving Putin the best show he could have asked for.

When you have to put a qualifier in front of "peaceful demonstrations" such as "largely" or "mostly", it means peaceful demonstrations is a flat out LIE. A demonstration is either peaceful or it not, there's no in between. People around the Portland federal court house have been arrested with guns, pipe bombs, hammers and other deadly weapons. The peaceful protest in Portland end before 11PM, from 11PM to 4-5AM it's the rioters that come out. They have tried to barricade law enforcement inside the court building while trying to set it on fire. It's time to get real and start shooting these would be murders. BTW federal law gives DHS every authority to protect federal properties.

Try reading it and send the link to the OR AG.

The 10th doesn't have a damn thing to do with it. Only really stupid people think it does.

Democrats and their fake news flunkies seem to be under the impression that they're trusted to report truth...

I kinda feel sorry for the pathetic bastards that are still swallowing the crap..

Ted Cruz is upping the ante. He is putting a bill before Congress that would give citizens suffering losses a right to sue politicians who fail to provide protection or order the police to stand down.

Trump would SO get sued by that!

The only people breaking law and order to death are protesters who go after police and people keeping the peace. The commies are a violent crowd and need to get their citizenship in America pink slipped and sent to Russia. They're destroying other people's right to the pursuit of happiness in a violent and arbitrarily authoritarian way. We the people are not going to take it anymore.

I do, and I remember all the mocking that followed, and now I see the mocking has stopped, replaced by the lefts care of government over-reach...its always good when the liberals learn a lesson due to their arrogance via their tv education

The only lesson libturds are learning is how to use government troops against the rest of us. When they gain power again, they will abuse it. The Bolshevik revolution was no different. Imperial soldiers suppressed the insurrection, and then they were used to starve the population.

The shit has hit the fan.
