    Most recent risk-free-rate curve

Based on data obtained here: U.S. Treasury Strips - Markets Data Center - WSJ.com

Have interest rates ever been this low? You can get 30 year mortgages now for 4%. I can remember when an ordinary bank savings account paid more than that.

We keep pushing the string hoping that by making money cheap, people will go into debt to buy.

Sadly, consumers will be niggardly buyers as long as they're worried about their jobs and the future economy.

Much like Capital won't invest unless it sees demand increase.

A vicious economic cycle that , in theory, stimulus spending ought to solve.

In today's world WSJ is an underachiever and IBD has a much more complete picture---

Rates have generally been falling for at least a couple years now--

What do you suppose the treasury yeilds would look like if the folks in charge were really concerned about runaway inflation, like so many gold bugs are worried about?

Ask your father how much his mortgage was.
