NTEU (The National Treasury Employees Union) National President Doreen Greenwald said in a statement that Treasury’s return to office plan “doubles down on unwise guidance from the Office of Management and Budget that demands more in-office days without compelling data or justification.”

“We question why the Treasury Department would set new, arbitrary limits on a program with a record of success dating back well before the pandemic,” Greenwald said.

“Now is not a time to reduce the benefits that attract employees to work for the federal government. We have seen the benefits of telework for decades at the IRS both in recruiting and on the well-documented customer service and enforcement improvements of the last year, she added.

The IRS "hiring problem" needs to be turned into an IRS mass reduction of force problem. ;)

"Work" from home continues to extend perpetual adolescence that has emerged during the FJB Era.

No need to wake up early, get dressed, communicate in a professional manner, or otherwise demonstrate discipline.

Lots of reasons to bitch, moan, and cry about still having to "work" at all.

My gawd....It gets in the way of funnin'.

They’re spoiled brats. They’ve been “working” from home for so many years that they are aghast at the idea of showing up for work.

I personally know someone of retirement age who said that as long as she can “work” from home every day - which means log on for a few hours and spend the rest of the day taking walks, doing household errands, meeting friends for long lunches, etc. - she’d keep doing her $150,000 a year job. She decided to retire when her boss said she had to come in once a week, moaning to me about what a hassle it is to take the Metro every single Tuesday to go downtown.

So she retired. Now she is contracting back, at twice her salary, and is back to “working” from home every day, laughing all the way to the bank.
