Well no one claimed world trade should be, or ever was some meirtocracy investor

Every country wants a leg up on the others, while protecting their interests

Where this gets sticky is trades connections to foreign policy , where (JMHO) all this foreign aid (for ex) to countries who vote against us in the UN can be seen as extortionary in nature
