Thousands Of Consumers Get Insurance Cancellation Notices Due To Health Law Changes

Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more costly policies..
Florida Blue, for example, is terminating about 300,000 policies, about 80 percent of its individual policies in the state. Kaiser Permanente in California has sent notices to 160,000 people – about half of its individual business in the state. Insurer Highmark in Pittsburgh is dropping about 20 percent of its individual market customers, while Independence Blue Cross, the major insurer in Philadelphia, is dropping about 45 percent.

NOW GUESS WHAT YOU Obamacare supporters... millions more now with CANCELLED after Obama Promised will be jamming this stupid health care program TALK about f...k ups!~!!

You left out this part:
By all accounts, the new policies will offer consumers better coverage, in some cases, for comparable cost — especially after the inclusion of federal subsidies for those who qualify. The law requires policies sold in the individual market to cover 10 “essential” benefits, such as prescription drugs, mental health treatment and maternity care. In addition, insurers cannot reject people with medical problems or charge them higher prices. The policies must also cap consumers’ annual expenses at levels lower than many plans sold before the new rules.

Sooo...most of those people will end up with better plans than they had. Why would they want to keep their old plan?

Who is paying the "federal subsidies"? OH yea the filthy rich! Right you know you are so two faced!
You want the filthy rich to pay the "federal subsidies" right? Evil profiteers!

YET you defend the very people that cost our health care system $850 billion a year!
WHY? Why are you so ready to TAX THE RICH when the REAL villains YOU defend! YOU protect millionaires themselves and NOT even
question why physicians blame these people for causing $850 billion a year in WASTED health care expenses!

DUMB !

Lefties want a system like Canada ...however leftist never apply factual data and analysis to their idealism.
Such as.......
America has 10 times the population.
Canadian "welfare" usage has been dropping every year since 1996. United States has record high welfare usage.
Underemployment is at an epidemic level in America...not so in Canada.
You can go on and on.
By the time we get to a system like Canada (and it will happen) - things will be so lopsided and underfunded that America's health system will be like our education system.
The government will screw this up beyond all recognition of what our system is today. We will in 20 years have one of the worst healthcare systems in modern nations.
It will happen.

Just as He promised.....

U.S. out of Iraq.
U.S. out of Afghanistan
Gitmo would be closed

Need I continue?

We are still in Iraq
We are still in Afghanistan
Gitmo going strong and off the radar

No I wouldn't recommend continuing.

You do know how nuts this is to people who know the full truth?

Thousands?

That many?

Boy oh boy... what will we do?

Those who "buy their own insurance" have always realized that their converage is not a sure thing. If companies are terminating them, then it is probably because there are better plans out there. The system is not without flaws, obviously. But it should reduce health insurance costs over the long term.

Desegregation was not painless in the beginning. Can you imagine if the federal government had to forced integration in the south? We would have two seperate cultures and two seperate races inmuchof the country.

I am not dismissing the concerns that many have, but I think the system will improve and costs will be reduced. It will take time.
