No, they aren't controlled by unions. In fact, the big deal is that they fire at will and the amount of fraud is amazing. Just the real estate fraud alone is fantastically outrageous.

The GOP created Citizens United. They endorsed it wholeheartedly. And now they are on the receiving end. However, the Dems have never ceased their opposition to that supremely foolish decision. And, after Clinton is elected and the Supreme Court has a few more replacements, we will see the end of that poor decision.
Until then, it is the law of the land and the Dems will continue to act under that law, just as would the GOP if Trump's policies were such that big money trusted him. It is not that the corporations like Clinton, it is that they far more fear the chaos and uncertainty from having a mentally unbalanced President.

I agree - and this is one time I applaud them for that. Among other things, the super rich sure as hell don't want Trump in charge of the military and nuclear weapons. I can't imagine the Trump family running the country.
