How many folks had to take those billy bada$$ bumper stickers off of everything after their child or their child's friend killed themself with that gun.

Which is greater - The number of people killed in gun accidents or the number of people who actually use their gun at home against a criminal?

Do YOU feel lucky?

Look, I know you're wet-your-pants scared of every little noise, but grown a spine. Stop endangering your family because of your cowardice.

Roughly 1500 people die each year from gun accidents. The NRA says 2.3 million people defend themselves with guns each year, even if you take that suspect number and say its over bloated, that still leaves a larger number than those who die in accidents.

You are such a sweetheart.

Most of the time, intruders confronted by an armed homeowner leave quite quickly. These incomplete crimes are sometimes never even reported.

Which one do you think the criminals are going to most avoid?

A little story is in order:

Years ago I worked as a coach in a neighborhood which included diverse ethnic and racial demographics and was usually tense. One night I went to a show and parked my van on the street near a housing development where many of the kids lived.

Upon leaving the show and approaching my car I noticed the wing window was broken out. A cop car slowed and asked me if I owned the van. When I told him I did he explained to me a crowd of kids, mixed in race, were around the van and he and his partner thought shit was about to go down. When they approached group to keep the peace they learned the kids were guarding my van. It seems someone not from the neighborhood tried to commit an auto burg and these kids, not usually known to hang together, chased the crook away and protected my car.

Now I'm not saying all crime can be prevented, but I'm a firm believer that if our communities worked together, talked together and played together our culture would be less violent, less divided and healthier.

you slept through a burglary, what exactly would having a gun accomplish? The next time the burglar will know to steal that as you sleep to? LOL
Oh, thanks, that reminds me......that's the other thing armed homeowners tend to do when invaded, they run, hide, or fake being asleep.

oh don't get me wrong, I have guns two of which are available for use in the unlikely event that were burgled , but I don't have silly stickers on my windows and I have dogs which would wake the dead should someone even come into the yard.

How do they define "defend" themselves.

We had a break in during the middle of the night a couple of months ago, and he took my sons PS3 and games. The stupid pill head decided to sell it at Game Stop, but since I had the serial number from the warranty and had filed a police report, his dumb ass is back in jail. Anyway, I always thought my neighborhood was super safe, but that shook me up since he came into the home while we were sleeping...people like that are desperate, and if one of us had encountered him, or he'd entered our bedrooms looking for more stuff...well, I didn't want my son or I to become another statistic. So I had a security system installed, but also ordered the stickers below for my back sliders and side garage door...because my motivation is to do whatever is necessary to protect my son, and also avoid a confrontation with a low-life criminal who I wouldn't hesitate to shoot if he made the fatal choice to enter my home.

Is this the first time that you have mentioned this break-in here?

No...and thanks for your concern.

Read slower...there is now a security system to warn of us intruders. Oh, and thank you also for your concern.:D

and hope to God he doesn't decide to use it on you as you sleep.

Assuming he doesn't enter with a weapon of his own.

Really some lame responses for people who don't want to own guns, or think anyone else who does must be an idiot.

Glad to hear it. I didn't want to accuse you of lying. Glad you and your son were uninjured.

Spoken like a true victim, and champion for the Rights of criminals everywhere. Bravo! :clap2:

You might want to educate yourself and answer your own questions. You might be surprised what you find.

My only worry with the gun in home signs would be that it encourages someone to break in, to steal the gun. Something like 15% of all illegal guns are stolen from private citizens.

Which is true, having those "I'm a badass cuz i've got a GUN!" signs are the worst to have as A) the crooks view this as a challenge that you are some kind of wanna-b tough guy, and they'll be sure to show up heavily armed to take you up on the offer, and B) let's them know there are guns inside, which are some of the top prizes robbers are looking for.

But damn aren't they surprised when the homeowner actually has a gun, training to use it and blows a hole in them? Let them roll the dice. They might get lucky. They might not.

Yeah, that's a common occurrence. :eusa_eh:

The NRA? The same organization that blamed the sandy hook shootings on video games and Hollywood?

I have 2 dogs. They are little shits. I doubt the both weigh 30 pounds. While the won't much hurt an armed intruder, they will wake me up.

I used to have this sign on my front door.

In my case, racking a shell into a 12 gauge pump and informing the would be rapist trying to break down my front door he was about to die, worked, as did giving a would be robber a glimpse of the grips of my Smith and Wesson 629.

Obviously I want the security system, and their signs, to be the first level of defense. The armed citizen signs are for some idiot who snoops around and is not keen/aware/sober enough to catch the other signs, but hopefully not foolish enough to want the trouble of dealing with that scenario. I'm just not willing to put my complete faith in it and/or the police responding soon enough, so I make no apologies about having a firearm as emergency back up. It would be my last choice to have to take another life, even a miserable thief, who might very well not have any regret about harming my son or me.
