The news business is on pace for its worst job losses in a decade as about 3,000 people have been laid off or been offered buyouts in the first five months of this year.

The cuts have been widespread. Newspapers owned by Gannett and McClatchy, digital media companies like BuzzFeed and Vice Media, and the cable news channel CNN have all shed employees.

The level of attrition is the highest since 2009, when the industry saw 7,914 job cuts in the first five months of that year in the wake of the financial crisis, according to data compiled by Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., an outplacement and executive coaching firm.

They’ve told half the country that they hate them. They fail to understand the feelings are mutual.

People gave up on news when it became biased opinion. If they develop some people with credibility and fair mindedness, there may be an interest in news for news sake again. Where have you gone , Walter Cronkite.

It all comes down to folks haven’t been buying the crap they’ve been shoveling for a while now. This hasn’t been an overnight sensation. It’s been a slow steady stream, and that’s the most perplexing part about it to me. As they’ve continued down their utterly biased roads the attrition among print, TV, and radio audiences has continued to grow, squeezing their lifeblood revenue streams, yet the corporate suits, certainly aware their biases are the cause, sit by and let the bleeding continue until it’s time to shitcan some more lowly staffers.
