This country is as 'Western" as Ukraine and Serbia- and is tied with Mexico- and doesn't surprise me a bit

If you've never paid a mordida (bribe) you've never been to Mexico. I paid my first at 16...drinking in public.

It all depends on the definition of corruption. Tom "Cakewalk" Friedman. Pure corruption. Enormous damage. Doesn't show up in the country rankings.

I shan't name the country, but it is infamous for its corruption.

1. About 30 years ago, its then president told his people something like:

"You all condemn corruption, yet you all use every opportunity to bribe officials."

2. An intellectual in this unnamed country once wrote an article with a title something like: "Are we an inherently corrupt people?"
(I forget his answer.)

3. Some Americans are asking: "Will the United States become progressively more corrupt as more people [from that unnamed country] continue to come here?"

IMHO, the answer is in the affirmative.

Germany

The UK

The Netherlands

Luxembourg

Canada

Sweden (I strongly disagree with this as the Muslim population explodes)

Singapore

Switzerland (Should be first)

Norway

Finland

Denmark

New Zealand

I think there could be arguments made against any of these.
