The simple truth is that guns are not responsible. How do I know this? Let's look at the statistics.

Gun violence in the United States by state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list has the numbers for total population, population density, number of murders per 100,000, number of GUN murders per 100,000, as well as the percentage of population that owns a firearm.

First, we'll take a look at DC. It has a gun ownership percentage of 3.6 percent. Murders and gun murders are 21.8 and 16.5 per 100K.

As you can see, it has the lowest number of guns and the highest number of gun murders.

Next, we have Hawaii. 6.7 percent. 1.8, .5 Almost twice the number of guns, and almost no gun murders.

Both have very few guns, yet their gun murder rates aren't even in the same ballpark.

Looking at some other states with high gun ownership, we also see states with high and low gun murder rates. Once again, we have similar gun ownership percentages, yet the number of gun murders aren't even close.

So what does this tell us? The number of guns available to the public have no relation to the number of gun murders. Something else is to blame. Not the guns.

more people will be buying guns now the way things are. we should focus on good training, handling skills, save lives. ironically, we are returning to the days of the wild west.

The fact is the gays and lesbians are buying guns in droves because Obama will not protect them. So get over it already

Yes.....this is a point I keep making and the left wing gun grabbers need to deny it.........places with low gun crime...have low rates of criminals.....places with high rates of gun crime...have high rates of criminals...gun access doesn't matter...it is the thugs who decide to use them that matter.....that is why we have a high gun murder rate compared to Britain.....but that is changing...Britain and Europe have imported people to murder their citizens since their own citizens don't do it a lot....

Exactly. The people killing each other in Central City here in NOLA didn't buy their weapons at Academy Sporting Goods.

No...they don't...in fact they can end mass shootings long before the police get there........there is nothing you state about guns in the United States that is true, accurate, the facts or reality........that is what we have shown before.....

There is a simple way to drastically cut down on gun violence. Mandatory life sentence for any crime committed with a firearm. If anyone is wounded or killed with that gun, it's an automatic death sentence. I guarantee you, the numbers would drop dramatically, if for no other reason than we are getting rid of those who are willing to kill others.

You have missed the whole point, however.

Your simple inferences from your simple raw data comparisons support nothing.

And with the recent deaths of Old Man Brady and his wife, the flagrant arrogant assault on the 2nd Amendment has effectively ended. So you are fighting a battle and you are the only one.

The issue currently confronting the US population is regarding another Federal assault weapons ban. Billy signed one into law back in 1994 which lapsed in 2004 under GW Bush. Hillary is now arguing for another one. And Diane Feinstein is helping her.

The states may each implement their own assault weapons ban, as may the cities. The SCOTUS has indirectly affirmed that by not taking a recent case. The issue however is at the Federal level, where like before the SCOTUS would probably let the legislation stand.

But unless Hillary gets a DEM Senate AND House with her, she won't be able to get it through Congress.

So if you want to debate guns, then other than wasting your time as you did, try tackling the issue of a Federal assault weapons ban. Here are the talking points for you:

1 - was it constitutional for the Federal Government to implement the 1934 National Firearms Act?

2 - was it constitutional for the Federal Government to implement the 1968 Gun Control Act?

3 - was it constitutional for the Federal Government to implement the 1986 Firearms Act?

These 3 acts taken together essentially outlaw fully automatic weapons. Was that constitutional?

Then you can ask the following:

4 - was it constitutional for the Federal Government to implement the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban?

5 - would another Federal assault weapons ban be equally constitutional or unconstitutional?

If you have concluded that (1) all these acts were constitutional under the 2nd Amendment and the current status of Heller v. DC (which does not mention assault weapons but does allow the states to regulate public possession of firearms outside the home), then the next question becomes:

6 - is gun regulation merely by fiat of Congress and of the state legislatures?

7 - are semi auto assault weapons (however you define them) more like banned fully auto assault weapons or not? Is there any significant difference when it comes to FORCE MULTIPLICATION?

45% of American households contain at least one gun, while 55% do not. So the majority across the board is non gun owning. However the political strength of the NRA gives the 45% much greater power than the majority.

So the NRA has a better track record of protecting the 2nd Amendment than the SCOTUS does.

So the salient issue is whether or not semi auto weapons are sufficient force multipliers to put them in a similar class with fully auto weapons. THAT'S the relevant question.

Not "who has guns" and "where is the violence". Nobody is debating that.

Explain how effective that will be when another one of the killers is seeking suicide by cop?

That's not really a relevant issue either, as far as assault weapons go.

The assault weapons issue is one of force multiplication.

And your statement is not a "fact" it is a conclusion. Data are facts. Statements like yours are conclusions. I wish people would learn what facts are and what they are not.

Criminals do, guns have nothing to do with criminal behavior. Dip shit

Gun ownership does not effect crime rates. That said, mass killers with high capacity semi autos kill a lot more than ones with derringers.
