I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

I hear Republic (our form of government), God, unity and the ideals of liberty and justice for all.
I do not hear cannon balls or armies or baseball games mentioned.

Loving our country enough to want to change it for the better does not mean we hate our country OR our troops. You are getting things terribly confused.
