Constitutional republic? We are a democratic republic. A Constitutional one at that. You're playing with semantics. We have a democratic system. We use a representative democracy, rather than a popular form of democracy. The framers (that won the arguments), but not all of them, despised popular democracy as a system of government. They chose a representative form of democracy. The USA is a republic of course, but that does not negate the rest of what she is
