It's funny how you are suddenly caring so much about Afghanistan.....and it was about time this war ended.

I never said I care about Afghanistan, it went on far to long and we probably should have never been there. I'm all in favor of those peaceful people warring against each other for another century. Thin the herd but keep their faux religion there, not here.

That said? Biden fckd this up beyond imagination. You know it so stop your damn flaming and own it...and stop the comical shit about threats. Good grief, it's old

Folks stupidity has consequences.....there are no good reasons to elect a fool and electing a fool because you have TDS ranks at the bottom of that list.

Americans were beaten throughout the night.

A fixed Standard for withdrawal should be a privilege and immunity for any commanding general staff.

That doesnt change the fact that Drumpf negotiated the deal.
Did the Trump administration have anything to do with the current situation in Afghanistan?

The reader may decide.

Did Trump know he was going to lose his reelection? Did he want to hamstring his Democratic successor?

CNN reports, "Robert Crews, a historian at Stanford University specializing in Afghanistan and central Asia, said he believes the Trump administration's deal with the Taliban last year played a role in the group's takeover of the country.

"The agreement struck last year laid out a 14-month timetable for the withdrawal of "all military forces of the United States, its allies and coalition partners." The US agreed to withdraw troops and release some 5,000 Taliban prisoners, while the Taliban agreed to take steps to prevent any group or individual, including al Qaeda, from using Afghanistan to threaten the security of the US or its allies."

The U.S. military has met its goal of reducing the number of troops in Afghanistan to about 2,500 by Friday, a drawdown that may have violated a last-minute congressional prohibition.

The reduction could complicate matters for the incoming Biden administration, which must determine how to handle a Trump administration commitment to the Taliban to remove all U.S. military, intelligence and contractor personnel from Afghanistan by May as a move to spur peace negotiations. Those talks are in an early stage.

Two Presidents are mainly responsible for the mess in Afghanistan.

Bush the lesser and Biden.

Bush for getting us off on the wrong track; nation building --which was the big mistake we made in Afghanistan.

After running the Taliban and Alquada out of Afghanistan we should not have allowed them to have a save haven in Pakistan, that was the second biggest mistake we made.

Biden made a huge mistake by not following the deal Trump had made with the Taliban which called for a orderly withdrawal and conditions placed on the Taliban to insure that we would withdraw. If the taliban violated the agreement then Trump would not have withdrawn.

Biden just scrubbed all that Trump had done to insure a peaceful and orderly withdrawal and declared we would withdraw period.

When the Taliban heard that, they immediately went on their grand offensive and with such speed that the biden regime was thoroughly surprised, mortified and completely unprepared for.

Thus the huge humanitarian crisis we now have. Biden owns that and no one else.

Come on all of you big strong men
Uncle Sam needs your help again
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Afghanistan

Put down your books and pick up a gun
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun
And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, next stop is Afghanistan
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Ain't no time to wonder why, whoopee we're all gonna die

Come on generals, let's move fast
Your big chance has come at last
Now you can go out and get those ragheads
Good Jihadis is the one that's dead and
You know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come

And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for
Don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Afghanistan
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Ain't no time to wonder why, whoopee we're all gonna die, hey

Come on wall street don't be slow
Why man this war is a go-go
There's plenty good money to be made by
Supplying the army with the tools of its trade
Let's hope and pray that if they drop the bomb
They drop it on the Taliban

And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, next stop is Afghanistan
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Ain't no time to wonder why, whoopee we're all gonna die

Come on mothers throughout the land
Pack your boys off to Afghanistan
Come on fathers, don't hesitate
Send your sons off before it's too late
And you can be the first ones on your block
To have your boy come home in a box

And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, next stop is Afghanistan
Yemen, Libya, Libanon, Syria
Ain't no time to wonder why, whoopee we're all gonna die
Oh yeah

Really? Let's look at that.

Trump signed a surrender to the Taliban in February 2020. Most of us didn't notice at the time because we were too busy dealing with the PLAGUE Trump failed to pay attention to. In the nearly year after that, Trump did very little to get Americans out of the country and actually made it HARDER for Allied Afghans to apply for political asylum.

Biden realizing that very little had been done to hit the Original May 31 Deadline Trump had set, extended it to August 31st.

The funny thing. The Taliban didn't wait and the Afghan Government wasn't that keen on fighting.

Flawed analysis.

Trumps deal with the taliban was based on conditions that the taliban agreed to and if they violated any part of the agreement then Trump would not have pulled out.

Unfortunately, the election was stolen; biden comes in and throws Trumps deal out the window and declares we will withdraw unconditionally whereupon the taliban immediately began their grand offensive since they new there would be no repercussions from the lame ass biden regime.

Biden fuked up big time and now owns this mess which appears to be getting much more serious as in it does not appear we will be able to get all our people out by the end of the deadline.

The most likely scenario then is one of the Taliban taking American hostages and demanding a huge price for them.

They were violating the treaty long before Trump left, including 500 assassinations of Afghan officials.

The only "condition" they complied with was not to attack American troops, but they had been largely pulled back to secure areas to start with.

Actually, you have it mixed up. The Taliban were attacking the government almost continously after the Doha Agreement, Trump forced the Afghan government to release 5000 Taliban Hard cases in exchange for 1000 Afghan prisoners.

If Biden had held to the Trump Deal, we'd have been out of there by May 31st.... that was the timetable calld for in Trump's agreement. Biden extended that to August 31st to give Americans more time to leave.

Actually, pretty unlikely.... The Taliban are looking for international recognition for their regime and foreign investment... and they aren't going to get that by holding foreigners hostage.
