The Political Quote Game

"Now, to get back to the question about outsourcing, I think outsourcing is a growing phenomenon, but it's something that we should realize is probably a plus for the economy in the long run."
- Gregory Mankiw, Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisers, Feb 9th, 2004

"The Modern Liberal believes in the supremacy of the state, thereby rejecting the principles of the Declaration and the order of the civil society, in whole or part. For the Modern Liberal, the individual's imperfection and personal pursuits impede the objective of a utopian state. In this, Modern Liberalism promotes what French historian Alexis de Tocqueville described as a soft tyranny, which becomes increasingly more oppressive, potentially leading to a hard tyranny (some form of totalitarianism). As the word 'liberal' is, in its classical meaning, the opposite of authoritarian, it is more accurate, therefore, to characterize the Modern Liberal as a Statist. ... The Conservative does not despise government. He despises tyranny. This is precisely why the Conservative reveres the Constitution and insists on adherence to it. ... For the Statist, liberty is not a blessing but the enemy. It is not possible to achieve Utopia if individuals are free to go their own way. ... The Statist's Utopia can take many forms, and has throughout human history, including monarchism, feudalism, militarism, fascism, communism, national socialism, and economic socialism. They are all of the same species -- tyranny. ... The Statist is not interested in what the Framers said or intended. He is interested only in what he says and he intends."

--Mark Levin

"All the problems with the American health care system come from government intervention, so naturally the Democrats' idea for fixing it is more government intervention. This is like trying to sober up by having another drink."

Some classics from our former Commander in Chief, GWB:

“The same folks that are bombing innocent people in Iraq were the ones who attacked us in America on September the 11th.” --Washington, D.C., July 12, 2007

“You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror.” --CBS News’ Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006

“There’s an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on --shame on you. Fool me -- you can’t get fooled again.” --Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

“People say, how can I help on this war against terror? How can I fight evil? You can do so by mentoring a child; by going into a shut-in’s house and say I love you.” --Washington, D.C., Sept. 19, 2002

That part I bolded, I loled outloud, hard, for a good two minutes.

Somehow, the idea of the OP seems to have been lost along the way.

ROFL... Isn't it cool how the left has to revise their little quotes?

What Rumsfeld said was it wasn't his job to do intelliGENCE work... Lil' Bobby just thought it would be cute to change it.

"We know it's not good for kids, but a lot of other things aren't good. ...Some would say milk's not good."
- Bob Dole (on Tobacco)
Some DO say that Milk isn't good... what's your point here Bobby?

"President Washington, President Lincoln, President Wilson, President Roosevelt have all authorized electronic surveillance on a far broader scale."
- Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, testifying before Congress.

ROFL... cute... it's as if Bobby knows that the Statement wasn't true and that Gonzolez was mis-speaking.

Sadly for Bobby, Gonzolez was correct... although in Washington's case, the surveillance was not 'electronic' per se... but Washington was the first President to authorize the surveillance of semafore communications; the forerunner to the Telegraph... and Lincoln of course tapped telegraph lines and thus, lil' Bobby's effort is a function of ignorance and yet another example of why the anti-American left should be berated, isolated and ostrocized in general.

Its a very simple game. One person posts a quote and you respond to it with a quote of your own.

I'll begin

"If men through fear, fraud or mistake, should in terms renounce and give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the great end of society, would absolutely vacate such renunciation; the right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of Man to alienate this gift, and voluntarily become a slave."

--John Adams, Rights of the Colonists, 1772

A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right. Thomas Paine

"Two wrongs don't make a right"
--Almost every parent that has ever lived

Yeah, but 3 Rights make a Left...

peace...

That was a good one.

Yeah my intent never really flew well with this thread. Oh well. I'm gonna put up a quote anyway

"As our president bears no resemblance to a king so we shall see the Senate has no similitude to nobles." --Tench Coxe

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”
Adolf Hitler

"Of course, it would be perfectly futile to fight with such forgetful liars." - an actual Hitler quote

Sweet my turn

We must believe that it is the darkest before the dawn of a beautiful new world. We will see it when we believe it.
Saul Alinsky

"If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute."

--Thomas Paine
