HR-2 was/is a fine Bill....The fact that the leftists and RINOs of The Firm tried to to pass a Ukraine funding Bill instead has nothing to do with the quality of HR-2.

Any immigration reform that would fundamentally change how the immigration system work would have to be so broad that everyone would have a reason top vote against it either because it was too restrictive or too permissive.

Anyway, the real problem here is that our central american policies are controlled by what is best for Wall Street. Guatemala welcomes US companies that destroy local businesses, so those people leave. Honduras left-wing government pushed back against American companies so the US was quick to ratify a right-wing coup that more favored Wall Street, so people fled. Mexico loves people coming to the US by any means necessary as it ties its government funding of community projects to matching based on how much the immigrants send back from the US. This is all about balancing big picture economics. We can flood central America with foreign aid or we can spend that money here housing, feeding, clothing and pushing back against the immigrants, but we are spending it either way.

It's an election year, millions of illegals have poured over the border and the invasion is not just limited to border states now. Now it's actively impacting many states across the United States (e.g. sanctuary states / cities) and directly impacting local budgets and the local community. Democrats should have had the level of concern in 2021 that they have now -- a concern only driven by influencing the low-information voters to vote for them.
