The one and done is horrible for college basketball and unfair to other players on the team and college atheletes in general. When a player commits to a school to play basketball their letter of intent should come with a length of time clause. If the player in question indicates he is a one and done then he is not eligible for scholarship. Scholarships are for student atheletes, not semi pro players, which is what one and done players actually are.
If the player says he'll play for more than one year and then opts out for the NBA then he must repay the scholarship, he'll have the money if he makes the NBA. Seeing some kid who wants a college education and the only way he can afford it is through a scholarship, denied that scholarship because it was given to a one and done is just wrong. College athletics is supposed to be for students first, the school second, the alumni third, and everyone else last.
