The State of Texas’s motion for leave to file a bill of
complaint is denied for lack of standing under Article III of
the Constitution. Texas has not demonstrated a judicially
cognizable interest in the manner in which another State
conducts its elections. All other pending motions are dismissed as moot.

The last time SCOTUS so short-sightedly and utterly foolishly decided a case was Dred Scot.We know how that turned out.

With this dismissal, the Supreme Court of the United States has just ruled that the Constitution of the United States no longer has jurisdiction over the United States. In so doing, they have also self-deligitimized any jurisdiction they formerly possessed.
The only answer to that has to start with gunfire, and end with nooses.
Conduct yourselves appropriately. The entire social contract is therefore dissolved.
If you swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that bill has just come due. The government of the United States has now entered into a state of war with its own people.
If there is no Constitution, there is no law, no republic, and no allegiance due to any authority constituted under it and subservient to it. That includes the national government, and every former US state and territory. At the stroke of a pen, they have all become pretenders.

I don't agree with that.
(1) by refusing to seat them, the House Democrats would be depriving the Rep's constituency of it's lawfully elected representative. They just legally voted that person in to serve them. Probably part of that support had to do with supporting Trump. Wouldn't that also be stealing people's votes?

And (2) we do not want to set a precedent of the majority party refusing to seat the opposing side's members when they have a serious dispute. It won't end well.

There's a strong case for not allowing them to be seated because of their seditious actions

I don't agree with that.
(1) by refusing to seat them, the House Democrats would be depriving the Rep's constituency of it's lawfully elected representative. They just legally voted that person in to serve them. Probably part of that support had to do with supporting Trump. Wouldn't that also be stealing people's votes?

And (2) we do not want to set a precedent of the majority party refusing to seat the opposing side's members when they have a serious dispute. It won't end well.

We cannot allow ourselves to become the monster we are fighting.

The constitution provides this option in Amendment 14 whereby penalties can be assessed to members of congress participating in a insurrection. The people did not elect representatives who would try to end democracy.

Who determines it was an insurrection? I think people are understandably VERY upset about this, but I think the system did its job and enough said. Leave it at that. Censure them and get back to work.

There's a strong case for not allowing them to be seated because of their seditious actions

I don't agree with that.
(1) by refusing to seat them, the House Democrats would be depriving the Rep's constituency of it's lawfully elected representative. They just legally voted that person in to serve them. Probably part of that support had to do with supporting Trump. Wouldn't that also be stealing people's votes?

And (2) we do not want to set a precedent of the majority party refusing to seat the opposing side's members when they have a serious dispute. It won't end well.

We cannot allow ourselves to become the monster we are fighting.

The constitution provides this option in Amendment 14 whereby penalties can be assessed to members of congress participating in a insurrection. The people did not elect representatives who would try to end democracy.

I'll say it again. Those 126 need to reaffirm their oath of office before they can be reseated. If they refuse, they need to be expelled.

Why would they refuse? It's a good idea. Won't hurt a thing. Maybe everyone should do it.

Who determines it was an insurrection? I think people are understandably VERY upset about this, but I think the system did its job and enough said. Leave it at that. Censure them and get back to work.

Well old lady, the attempt to get states where biden won to overturn results of an election is rather obvious relative to it being an insurrection. I can agree with your idea of censure although I would rather see a stronger message sent to republicans because they have been twisting the constitution to get their way for almost 30 years. How many more times are they going to get to hold up judicial nomination, then ramrod through their own under the same circumstances they used to deny a democrat? That's just one example.

Republicans don't give a damn about the rules and they depend on us talking about not doing the same thing they have. Maybe for once we punch back.
