...many are alright.
So many here complain about "kids today" knowing nothing about History, or about the state of education in general, but the news from the front lines is not all bad. Just the other day I had the somewhat surreal experience of standing in front of a (very full) class of high school students who were literally cheering and moaning over the answers to a series of questions about the American Revolution. They were actively engaged and demonstrating a high degree of knowledge about things I imagine the average poster here could not answer. Later in the same class they engaged in activities involving higher order thinking about the topics discussed and how they relate to the kids' lived experiences today.
And did I mention these kids were doing all this in their second language, after being in the country for less than 2 years?
