Isnt it interesting how they can fund it despite the funding specifically being denied by the House and yet, the departments of the government that were funded are being shut down?

Strangely enough, the media will not state this simple fact.

They are in the tank for Obama. In nearly every story the media blames the Republicans. If they lay any blame on the Democrats, they are saying both are at fault.

ABC radio yesterday was going so far as to claim that according to their count, a clean bill would pass the house after playing a clip of Boehner saying it wouldn't.

I have never heard any news organization doing that before.. all but calling the person a liar.

Why is it that you are so willing to accept this as "settled" law when it really isn't.. there are still cases going through the courts on their way up to the SCotUS.. meanwhile you continue to fight against the 2nd Amendment?

He said he would discuss Obamacare only after the government comes back up and the threatened default is off the table. Having said that, he is not willing to allow them to defund or gut Obamacare but he will talk about it as long as they want.

Republicans are going to be the ones to cave on this. Better make it sooner rather than later.

Try to wrap your head around these facts --

1) MOST of the ACA is not discretionary Spending. It can not be 'defunded' without rewriting the law entirely. This 'defunding' is just a little bit of political theater to get the Tea Folks back a home off.

2) THE ACA is LAW -- mandating its implementation Oct. 1, 2013. Funding for the exchanges is mandatory. Contracts were signed months ago, money was spent.

3) You don't get to re-debate a LAW. You don't get to re-run an election. There are NO do-overs.

4) THE ACA IS LAW - move on.



Everything they have purposed thus far is an attempt to torpedo the law, gut it, stop it, repeal it without actually voting to repeal it or drastically revise the LAW. Had the Republicans won the Senate and the White House, they could get their way. They did not. They need to do their jobs, get on with these procedural votes, and get back to running for reelection. Which is now going to be a lot harder.

Laws are re-written all the time.

Once it was the law that people could be slaves. Those laws were re-written.
Once it was law that Whites and Blacks couldn't marry each other. Those laws have been re-written.
Once it was law that men could not marry men or women couldn't marry women. Those laws have been re-written.
Once it was law that you couldn't go faster than 55 mph on any public road in the U.S. Those laws have been re-written.

If we were never to change laws, the top tax rate would only be 7% on the top 1% of wage earners in the country.

You really need to think before you post. Or you need to learn a bit more about American History....

Or Both.

BTW, Nixon resigned two years into his second term of office which he won by a real landslide.. Was the Democratic and Press investigation into Watergate simply them trying to "re-do" an election they had lost?
