Why Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest boxer in history + mindblowing facts

Few impressive facts about SRR
-Robinson was 85–0 as an amateur with 69 of those victories coming by way of knockout,
-From 1943 to 1951 Robinson went on a 91 fight unbeaten streak, the third longest in professional boxing history
-He then became the first boxer in history to win a divisional world championship five times (a feat he accomplished by defeating Carmen Basilio in 1958 to regain the middleweight championship).

Muhammad Ali is a close 2nd

I think you miss the point that he is considered the GOAT not just because of his fights in the ring but also outside the ring and the style in which he conducted himself.

Rocky Marciano was the greatest.
He was undefeated.

Bullshit.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is undefeated too.

SSR was a great fighter........for his time. As is the case with most athletic competition, thru better training, nutrition etc., the athletes of the past, say over 50 years ago, would not fair as well against more modern athletes.

I agree Ali was No.2. However, No.1 was Rocky Marciano.

True, the fact that he dodged the draft and became a muslim is why Ali isnt the GOAT. Rocky Marciano on the other hand is goat because he was a stellar man outside the ring, and inside he was undefeated. Unlike Ali, he had stamina and power, and he was a finisher, where as a third of Ali's fights went to decision. Ali didnt take training seriously either later in his career. He was undisciplined, so he had a soft body.

Its much easier to go undefeated in the lower weight classes. Guys simply dont hit as hard at 160 lbs, but every single heavyweight has knock out power, which makes it a much tougher division to go undefeated in.

Rocky Marciano is the GOAT.
