Wow! Kinda viscious in here from the eyes of newcomer....

For me, all of this is confusing and hard to digest and I'm sure I'm not the only one struggling trying to figure out who is lying and who isn't. Really, all these sandbox tantrums are doing is making both sides look immature and is doing little to help the voters understand the issue. Sad, really.

With the GOP falling apart and fragmented, Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader and Boehner whine for their party to unite and do exactly what Obama wants to do, raise the debt ceiling. The GOP is crushed like a cream puff and will face angry voters in the next election for backing down to Obama.

McConnell said the economic consequences of a default would give President Obama an opportunity to blame the GOP for the country’s economic straits. “Look, he owns the economy,” McConnell said. “He’s been in office for three years. We refuse to let him entice him into co-ownership of a bad economy.”

McConnell said that at this point the GOP had two choices: Either make a bad deal — from their perspective — with Obama or take the country into default, which, McConnell suggested would do even more damage to the party. He compared the situation to 1995, when the GOP forced a government shutdown.

“We know that’s going to happen. Just like we knew shutting down the government in 1995 was not going to work for us,” he said. “It helped Bill Clinton get reelected. I refuse to help Barack Obama get reelected.”

The tea party has the GOP divided and running scared, as Boehner reiterated that nothing Obama had suggested could win approval in the House, which has a significant bloc of tea party conservatives who don’t want to raise the debt limit under any circumstances and may be willing to gamble with the consequences of a default, along with bands of other conservatives who will accede to an increase only if it is accompanied by massive spending cuts. Don't they know Democrats can control the outcome?

The reality is that Mr. Obama is trying to present Republicans with a Hobson's choice: Either repudiate their campaign pledge by raising taxes, or take the blame for any economic turmoil and government shutdown as the U.S. nears a debt default, which will kill the GOP once and for all.

HOW ABOUT THOSE DEMOCRAT SCARE TATICS HITTING THE GOP IN THE FACE??

THE PARTY OF NO IS ABOUT TO CAVE IN AND SAY YES!!

Two of the core groups in the GOP are in direct conflict. The first group (2nd group, really) is the tea party folks who are extremely vocal activist voters. The second group is the upper echelon income earners, many of whom lead large corporations, banks, and other important companies like insurance companies and investment houses. The second group knows exactly what kind of a disaster a default would be (even if they can't possibly predict every single negative consequence of that default). The first group doesn't know shit, but they've got the courage of their convictions, none the less.
