It is difficult for me to compare with the opposition in the West, but in Russia the opposition is those who oppose any decisions of the authorities. In our case - against Putin. But the actions of the president and his government cause a high approval rating among the population. Therefore, the opposition is against the wishes of the people. It turns out that the opposition is deprived of the support of the people. Instead of trying to win the sympathy of the electorate, the opposition begins to whine, what a bad people in the country. Naturally, this undermines the trust to the opposition even more. There is a vicious circle. And the current opposition completely loses any support for voters.

Under such conditions, it is not only senseless, but also harmful, to fight the opposition. This will lower the already low rating of Russia in the West. This will increase support for the opposition from the population - in Russia people always love those who are oppressed. So the less is now to fight the opposition, the weaker its position
