She's NOT "taking credit" for providing a safe haven...she's bemoaning the cost to her ancestors of providing that safe haven...as necessary as it was.

And there was and is a cost to Palestinians. Do you dispute that?

I don't know what Talib believes, but Jews were migrating to the ancient Israel from Europe pretty much beginning with the Dreyfus Affair. Only it was in small groups. And they had no problem with the locals except for their European ways that offended a backward Arab population. But they bought land, drained swamps and generally improved the area with updated medicines and improved agriculture. After a few years, King Hussein's grandpa, the Mufti, felt threatened and did indeed start a mini holocaust against the Jews. But I think it was not until 1948 that the immigrant Jews annexed land and homes of Arab residents. And for all the claims of Democracy, Arabs today are still 2nd class in Israel. I'm not sure, but I think intermarriage is also illegal.
