Caught this last week and I do think that it is my favourite John Wayne western.
Wayne is on the trail of criminals selling guns to the Comanches.
Stuart Whitman plays his sidekick and doesnt bat an eyelid as the Duke mangles the french tongue. Lee Marvin plays a psycho who the Duke has to neutralise and its just a non stop thrill fest with a top notch theme tune.
I suspect that there are historical errors, certainly in some of the costumes, and probably the guns as well. But its good humoured,good natured and with its heart in the right place.
