I was asked by another poster (a right winger, of course) to produce any documentation regarding how the Brits kind of sold out the Palestinians and revoked the promise made to them when the Brits needed Palestinian help against the Turks in WWI. The promise, as expected, was for a homeland strictly their own

The Balfour Declaration, of which, ironically, I learned about from my professor in Jewish History, is something that most westerners or Israelis will never talk about, and I encourage independent thinkers to research this issue on their own....

It took the form of a letter from the Government of His Britannic Majesty King George the Fifth........,to an international financier of the banking house of Rothschild who had been made a peer of the realm.

Arthur Koestler wrote that in the letter "one nation solemnly promised to a second nation the country of a third." More than that, the country was still part of the Empire of a fourth, namely Turkey.

The letter read:

Foreign Office, November 2nd,1917

Dear Lord Rothschild,

I have much pleasure in conveying to you on behalf of His Majesty's Government the following declaration of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations, which has been submitted to and approved by the Cabinet:

"His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

I should be grateful if you would bring this Declaration to the knowledge of the Zionist Federation.

You DO know it's non-binding on Israel, since they gained their independence in 1948, right???

You almost gotta laugh that the radical left accepts every "emerging nation" in Africa in the past twenty years no matter what they name themselves or how many innocent civilians the war lords have to murder to get a seat in the U.N. but for some reason they don't respect Israel's independence since 1948.

For the Brits, Palestine was more of a liability than an asset...Not much oil to pilfer from that land, and the terrorism against them by BOTH the Jews and the Arabs made Britain's remaining there just a big headache.....and they simply left a huge mess behind.

yes the fighting got rid of the Brits, but the King David Hotel bombing sealed the deal, which was done by the Jews or should I say Zionist. The Zionist were savage, the Stern Gang , etc.
 
The general intent of the post is the calumny of the Brits......

First they promised the Arabs a Palestinian homeland IF they helped overthrow the Turks........Once WWI was over and the Brits desperately needed cash to pay off war debts, they reneged and promised a homeland to the Zionist Rothchilds for the cash that the bankers could yield to the British Crown.

Whomever tries to defend Israel by stating that there was NO Palestine and that the land belonged to ONLY Jews, this "letter" should be brought forth to them.......I know it won't change their minds, but perhaps their stupid rhetoric will be a bit more toned down.

Nitwit, NO ONE is stating that Israel has no right to exist (only morons like you make that claim)......What we are saying is that Israel's right to exist does NOT mean that Palestinians don't have the same exact right. Palestinians have been thrown into a reservation and subjugated to second citizen status.....Ask Native Americans and they'll readily tell you exactly how Palestinians must feel.

Native Americans were screwed by the U.S. government almost two hundred years ago. Today they enjoy screwing Americans out of their savings in gambling casinos. There is no comparison. Only morons assume that Palistinians have the "exact same right" to the land that Israel occupies when the nation of Israel has been established and acknowledged for more than a half a century. Note to radical lefties....stop beating yourself to death about the Balfour Declaration and go on to something more modern.
