The Armenian Massacres: Is it a genocide?

Pure apologetic drivel.
Yes. It was the last days of the Ottoman Empire and in the last days of every empire dues must be paid. Both by the fading dynasty clutching to their vestiges and those who attempt to break away.
However, the Ottoman not only slaughtered Armenians. They also slaughtered Greeks and Assyrians (primarily Christians) as well. It was a genocide and as soon as the Turks recognize that fact and come to terms with it the sooner it will pass.

Why is the word "genocide" such a incendiary term? The Truman administration authorized the use of two nuclear weapons in the first (and hopefully only) time in history on an ethnic society that was viewed as the enemy. Pop history justifies the unrelenting Allied bombing on the German people including the fire-bombing of the industrial city of Dresden. Somehow in the late 20th century the scam issue of "ethnic cleansing" replaced "genocide" and former president Clinton was able to manipulate the NATO treaty into authorizing the apparent indiscriminate bombing of a defenseless country when he was literally caught with his pants down in the Oval Office. Tribal warfare is a fact of life from ancient times well into the 21st century. Somehow calling it "genocide" turns it into a political issue.
